To aid your planning, here are some questions couples regularly ask us for advice.
How are marriages officiated in Mexico?
There are three types of ceremonies that you can choose from:
A legal ceremony performed in Spanish by a judge. All paperwork and marriage certificates will be in Spanish as it is the official language in Mexico. Even though this means your marriage is legal, there is a process you will need to follow up afterwards to have it officially translated into English and register your marriage at your City Civil Office.
You are required to provide 10 days in advance, legible copies of your passports, birth certificates, and in cases with previous spouses, copy of a divorce decree or death certificate. You will need to arrive at least three working days before the wedding to have a blood test done and deliver all paperwork to the judge.
You will need four witnesses who are above 18 years of age to attend the ceremony and sign the paperwork after. They can be your friends or relatives. Copies of their passports must be submitted in advance.
For this ceremony there is an official speech to be made. It can be translated into English by one of your guests or by your Romance Specialist.
The judge’s fee is $650 USD plus 11% tax. The cost for performing the blood test is $150 USD plus 11% tax per couple.
A symbolic ceremony performed in English by an officiant. This ceremony can be customized to accommodate each couple’s unique needs, personalities and beliefs.
The officiant can create different ceremonies based on your needs. To personalize your ceremony, the officiant will contact you to get an overview of your relationship and go over the ceremony details. You can decide if you want to write your own vows, add special readings or ceremonies (unity candle, sand, rose etc). This unique ceremony will remain in all your guests’ memories.
The officiant's fee is $450 USD plus 11% tax.
A religious ceremony. We are able to assist you every step of the way. You can either have a religious ceremony at the resort or – if you are Catholic – at the Catholic Church located three blocks from us. The priest, pastor or rabbi can perform the ceremony in English. Prior to that, he will go over the details with you to ensure the ceremony is conducted to your needs.
The fee for booking the church is $200 USD plus 11% tax.

I want to make my wedding unique and incorporate aspects of Mexican culture. What can I do?
Mexican traditions you may want to consider include having the groom present a gift of 13 gold coins to the bride as a symbol of financial responsibility, and the encirclement of you and your groom in a lazo (rope) to signify your eternal union. In certain Christian ceremonies, you can choose to carry two bridal bouquets – one for you and one for the Blessed Virgin as an offrenda (offer) for blessings.
Other ideas include delighting guests with a uniquely Los Cabos welcome amenity such as assorted petit fours, Capella wine or a trio of ceviches. Feature novelty entertainment like a fire dance, flamenco show or have a fun photo booth and traditional cigar maker present. Set spirits soaring with the music of an authentic Mariachi or Mexican Trio band to keep everyone dancing. Light up the night sky with wishing lanterns or a spectacular fireworks display that will warm the hearts of everyone around.
How can I put together my menu?
We specialize in customizing menus and welcome special requests to make everything easier and stress-free for you. Your Romance Specialist will first send you some catering menus as a guide.
