Spectacular New Hotel

This famous old hotel was torn down and rebuilt by its new owners, and is now a Capella Hotel, reopened in 2008, with every modern amenity. We had a beautiful large room with sitting area, mirrored mini Bar with French Press, Coffee & Tea. Most fabulous bathroom with HDTV in the bathroom mirror, heavy frosted glass doors for WC and Shower. Also, a large flat screen in the Bedroom, and a wired desk. All very luxurious, with beautiful furnishings, cabinetry and furnishings. Wonderful, helpful, Personal Assistant to make any arrangements you may need. On the corner of the Ko [shopping] and a short walk to the Alstadt [old town]. Private hotel guests only living room on the main floor, for tea, coffee, newspapers, reading, etc. Very good restaurant.

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in...

Just returned from a fabulous weekend in Dusseldorf with friends (forty somethings) staying at the very conveniently located Breidenbacher Hof. Turning right out of the hotel, it's a two minutes walk to the Konigsallee with all it's designer shops and boutiques where you can give your wallet a thorough workout. Turning left out of the hotel and within two minutes you are in the Altstadt with hundreds of bars and restaurants. The Rhein is a five minute walk through the town where you can walk along it's bank stopping for a drink or bite to eat.

The hotel was wonderful - very deserving of it's 5 stars. The rooms were beautifully appointed with touch control panels to operate the lights and curtains. The bed was so comfortable and the bedding, luxurious. Particularly liked the complimentary soft drinks in the minibar and delicious chocolates. The bathroom was well kitted out with the usual goodies though not stayed in many hotels with a tv in the bathroom mirror.

Staff were welcoming and friendly. Didn't eat at the hotel though the restaurant looked beautiful. We preferred a more casual atmosphere. The hotel bar however, was stunning! Not cheap but then it is a 5 start hotel. Live music (piano) until the early hours and an extensive cocktail list - dangerous combination. Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and already looking forward to going back next year! If you want to spoil yourself, thoroughly recommend the Breidenbacher Hof - hard to fault!

Great experience, loved the gadgets!

We had booked this hotel in the month of August, for a November stay, for A + A Exhibition. So, the rates were very affordable. The best place about this hotel is that its right in the centre of all happenings! Konigsalle is a grt shopping place, plus Henrich Hiene Alee is just a stone's throw away.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay @ this hotel, Loved the interiors, especially since its renovated, the new touch gadgets in the room were pretty exciting :). The staff was very courteous, and very helpful. The hotel has a very upscale feel to it, so makes you feel very special.

The area where one can have morning or afternoon tea was real cosy too. The Cigar bar had experienced staff which helped in recommending us what exactly we wanted to sip on that night. The only negative point in the hotel was that, there was not enough English channels(cable) to watch. Seeing arabic and german tv was quite boring.

On the whole, I would surely recommend this Hotel to everyone - Subway is just outside, Grt shopping all around. Excellent restaurants, withing walking distance. ALL-IN-ONE Hotel.

Really Quite Superb!

This is a relatively new Hotel under the Capella brand, built on the site of an historic hotel whose glory days were from the last century. The Horst Schultze of Ritz Carlton fame has created a truly magnificent hotel in the heart of the city, the decor is superb- the bar is a wonder of design and the bedrooms are very spacious and beautifully appointed. The bathrooms are beautiful, separate shower room & loo, complete with the usual TV in the mirror feature. The finish to all aspects of the property is second to none.

One of the nice touches is the Living Room, where all residents may relax, avail of complimentary coffee and read. Breakfast and dinner were excellent, breakfast being a mixture of buffet and table service.

Overall the service was perfect in every way & many 5 star Hotels would be advised to bench mark this property for their own good.

Go enjoy!
