Just returned from a fabulous weekend in Dusseldorf with friends (forty somethings) staying at the very conveniently located Breidenbacher Hof. Turning right out of the hotel, it's a two minutes walk to the Konigsallee with all it's designer shops and boutiques where you can give your wallet a thorough workout. Turning left out of the hotel and within two minutes you are in the Altstadt with hundreds of bars and restaurants. The Rhein is a five minute walk through the town where you can walk along it's bank stopping for a drink or bite to eat.
The hotel was wonderful - very deserving of it's 5 stars. The rooms were beautifully appointed with touch control panels to operate the lights and curtains. The bed was so comfortable and the bedding, luxurious. Particularly liked the complimentary soft drinks in the minibar and delicious chocolates. The bathroom was well kitted out with the usual goodies though not stayed in many hotels with a tv in the bathroom mirror.
Staff were welcoming and friendly. Didn't eat at the hotel though the restaurant looked beautiful. We preferred a more casual atmosphere. The hotel bar however, was stunning! Not cheap but then it is a 5 start hotel. Live music (piano) until the early hours and an extensive cocktail list - dangerous combination. Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and already looking forward to going back next year! If you want to spoil yourself, thoroughly recommend the Breidenbacher Hof - hard to fault!
