Happy Birthday, Breidenbacher Hof!
Last weekend the hotel icon celebrated its 200th anniversary
Düsseldorf, May 22nd 2012 – On the weekend of 18th and 19th of May the Breidenbacher Hof celebrated its 200 years anniversary in the presence of Dr. Maytham Haidar, owner of the property, Horst Schulze, Chairman and CEO of the Capella Hotel Group and the Mayor of Düsseldorf, Friedrich G. Conzen.
Last Friday evening 80 invited guests celebrated the culture of hospitality which the Breidenbacher Hof is famous for and enjoyed an exclusive five-course dinner prepared by Chef Michael Reinhardt. Guests, among them the owners of Eickhoff luxury fashion store Brigitte Eickhoff, Susanne and Stefan Asbrand-Eickhoff, art consultant Helge Achenbach, Deputy General Manager of the Düsseldorf Fair Hans-Werner Reinhard, band leader Helmut Zerlett, fashion designer Sandro Rath and owner of the Schnitzler Beauty Lounge Frank Schnitzler, enjoyed the anniversary menu which will be served from now at the Brasserie “1806” throughout 2012. Two additional guests are closely tied to the history of the Breidenbacher Hof: Marco Torriani, former Director of the Breidenbacher Hof as well as Romy Engelhardt, daughter of former hotel owner Dr. Georg Linsenmeyer and sister of Renate Linsenmayer who took over the Breidenbacher Hof from her father Georg und managed it from 1970 to 1985. The evening was accompanied with reciter Oliver Steller who presented a variety of his skills, as well as famous cellist Michael Beckmann.
Earlier this evening cellist Beckmann received a cheque of 2.500 Euro from Dr. Maytham Haidar for his foundation “Gemeinsam gegen Kälte e.V.” which helps poor and homeless people.
Capella President Horst Schulze pointed out once more the fascination he feels for the Breidenbacher Hof. “As a 15 year old I stood in front of the Breidenbacher Hof and my knees were shaking. Back then we didn’t have the courage to enter the hotel. Today we are extremely proud that the Breidenbacher Hof belongs to the Capella Hotel Group and that we can offer our guests the very best service. The Breidenbacher Hof is an icon and has a very special place in the Capella Group.”
The highlight of the anniversary was the „Kitchen Party” on Saturday with about 330 guests in the Bel Etage of the Breidenbacher Hof and even with a “look behind the scenes” into the kitchen. Together with Chef Michael Reinhardt some more high class chefs worked on a perfect menu. Michael Kammermeier (Restaurant Ente in Wiesbaden), Henri Bach (Residence Klosterpforte in Harsewinkel), Sascha Stemberg (Haus Stemberg in Velbert), truffle expert Ralf Bos (Bos Food), caviar expert Frank Brömmelhaus (Caviar House & Prunier in Sankt Augustin) as well as former chef of the Breidenbacher Hof Walter Leufen spoiled the guests with delicacies. In the Patisserie Chef Reinhardt was supported by Ralf Hölzelmann who used to be Chef of Patisserie in the Breidenbacher Hof for 25 years and who created the legendary Breidenbacher Hof Stollen.
The guests enjoyed the great service of the Breidenbacher Hof team and celebrated contentedly the whole night through.
