Created by Jaya Ibrahim and his team, its design concept embodies the spirit of Jian Ye Li.
Accommodation
Designed by Jaya Ibrahim and his team, our one-, two-, and three-bedroom Shikumen villas recreate an exclusive 1930s living experience. These villas form the heart of this urban sanctuary, blending traditional Chinese elements with French flair. During guests' stay, they are cared for by our Capella Culturists, who craft bespoke experiences for every individual.
Originally built during the 1930s, the shikumen villas housed foreign traders and expatriates working in Shanghai. In 1945, the area was transformed into a residential area for local Shanghainese and became a hive of activity around the narrow lanes. The contemporary elegance of the villa’s newly designed interiors contrast with Chinoiserie accents, an expression of heritage and modern indulgence.
Our Shikumen Garden Villas face the Secret Garden, an outdoor space where guests can immerse their five senses and relax. The bespoke interior design is a careful blend of classic Chinese elements and 19th-century French flair. Embark on a journey and step back in time to the golden era of Shanghai.
Our Two Bedroom Shikumen Deluxe Villa overlooks lush greenery winding through the traditional architecture, contrasted with modern details and design flair. Featuring French-accented furnishings, elements of Chinoiserie and a soothing palette of colors and materials, these private sanctuaries offer a refined and tranquil retreat.
